
NJ Statewide Nursing Summit

This activity will bring together NJ nurses working in HIV and primary care to discuss the quality of care in adults aging with HIV, transplantation and HIV updates, and long-term patient-centered care issues for aging patients. The conference will also address ways the appropriate uses of PEP (Post-exposure prophylaxis) and PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) to prevent HIV acquisition.
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Apply the 5Ms of geriatric care across clinical settings to develop practical approaches for improving care and positive outcomes for persons aging with HIV.
- Describe the impact of HIV infection in the management and candidacy of transplant patients.
- Discuss population growth of older adults and persons aging with HIV and adapting person-centered care principles for continuing care.
- Practice strategies to engage HIV patients and develop trusting relationships for better patient outcomes.
- Explain the appropriate uses of PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis) and PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) to prevent HIV acquisition in women.
